Architectural Design Professional

Design Alaska is looking for a Design Professional to join our team. The selected Design Professional’s duties involve:

  • Design work from concept design through construction documents.
  • Site Investigations and writing investigative reports of existing facilities.
  • Construction job site inspections and observations.
  • Occasional in-state travel, including remote Alaskan locations, for site visits.
  • Quality control reviews of design/construction documents.
  • Provide support to project team and others as required.
  • Coordination of project details with other disciplines on team.
  • Construction cost estimating.

In addition to the general attributes listed above that we seek in all of our new hires, the attributes that Design Alaska seeks in applicants for this position include:

  • 5-year bachelor or master of architecture degree from an NAAB accredited institution, and able to pursue licensure in state of Alaska.
  • 0-4 years of experience in the field of Architecture or Project Management.
  • Commercial Design and Construction related work experience.
  • Proficiency in Revit.
  • If not living in Alaska, interested in an Alaskan adventure.

Architectural Design Professional

Civil Engineer

Design Alaska is looking for an enthusiastic and charismatic Civil Engineer to join our team.

Civil Engineering duties typically include:

  • Potential site investigations including existing vegetation, soils, utility, and road access.
  • Interpretation of geotechnical data obtained from borings and pothole investigations and frozen soils.
  • Design of transportation networks and building sites to accommodate vehicles and people in arctic locations.
  • Analysis of storm water, drinking water, wastewater, solid waste, and hazardous material impact on design.
  • Construction cost estimating. Overseeing construction projects and progress inspections.
  • Occasional in-state travel is required for site visits.

In addition to the general attributes listed above that we seek in all of our new hires, the attributes that Design Alaska seeks in applicants for this position include:

  • Demonstrate ability to self-learn diverse topics over the breath of civil engineering. 
  • Interest in environmental engineering to protect public from contaminated soils, asbestos, lead, and pcb’s.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in civil engineering from an ABET accredited university.
  • Autodesk AutoCAD and Civil 3D or similar software experience.

Structural Engineer

Design Alaska is looking for an enthusiastic and charismatic Structural Engineer to join our team.

Structural Engineering duties typically include:

  • Detailed structural analysis. Analysis of individual building components through analysis of complete building systems using a combination of 3D structural analysis software and manual calculation.
  • Seismic design. Alaska’s high seismic regions require Design Alaska engineers to be well versed in seismic design and detailing of all conventional construction types including structural steel, reinforced concrete, and timber. 
  • Analysis of applicable code provisions for facilities, including essential facilities and government projects.
  • BIM modeling and detailing. Design Alaska’s engineers are responsible for drafting their designs, ensuring intimate involvement in the structural design from concept to construction. 
  • Construction cost estimating. 
  • Overseeing construction progress and occasional Special Inspections.
  • Occasional in-state travel is required for field investigation of existing structures and ongoing construction.

In addition to the general attributes listed above that we seek in all of our new hires, the attributes that Design Alaska seeks in applicants for this position include: 

  • Interest in the seismic performance of structures.
  • Demonstrated performance of detailed analysis and organization of a complex system.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in civil engineering from an ABET accredited university, with structure coursework.
  • Autodesk Revit or similar 3D modeling software experience. 

Structural Engineer

Accounting Technician

Design Alaska, a community oriented professional services firm, is seeking an accounting technician to help grow our company. Qualities that will contribute to success include ingenuity, attention to detail, communication skills, and computer savvy.

Focus areas for the work include vendor accounts, cash receipts, payroll, and month end/year end closeouts. A two-year accounting degree, two years of accounting experience, and working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite products is highly desirable.
