Project Manager/Engineer

Design Alaska is looking for a Project Manager/Engineer who is dynamic, hardworking, and passionate about the building construction industry to join our team.

Project Manager duties typically include:

  • Facilitate user meetings to develop programming and discover needs of facilities.
  • Leadership of architects, engineers, specialists, and construction contractors for an enduring, sustainable structure.
  • Overseeing project timelines, budgets, and workflow. Coordinating design phase construction cost estimates and schedules.
  • Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, personnel performance) and report on project status.
  • Lead construction meetings, inspections, and observations. Occasional in-state travel for site visits is required.
  • Marketing and interviews for new projects.

Engineer duties typically include:

  • Mechanical or Civil Engineer Designer of Record for projects. Mechanical work is buildings and utilities. Civil work is sites, landscapes, parking, and utilities.
  • Working with a team of designers to develop creative solutions.
  • Monitoring compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies and performance standards.
  • Preparing drawings, specifications, calculations, and narratives for a discipline within the overall design team.

In addition to the general attributes listed above that we seek in all of our new hires, the attributes that Design Alaska seeks in applicants for this position include:

  • Four-year degree in Engineering and 10 years of design engineering experience in commercial/institutional projects.
  • Licensed in Alaska or ability to become licensed through comity from another state in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
  • Multidiscipline design project management experience, including quality control and managing subconsultants.
  • Interested in vast diversity of projects to meet Alaska construction needs.
  • Desire to mentor emerging professionals.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit software.
  • Experience in leading a successful team of people.

Project Manager/Engineer Application

Architect Associate/Design Professional

Design Alaska is looking for an Architect Associate/Design Professional to join our team. The selected Architect Associate/Design Professional’s duties involve:

  • Design work from concept design through construction documents.
  • Site Investigations and writing investigative reports of existing facilities.
  • Construction job site inspections and observation.
  • Occasional in-state travel, including remote Alaskan locations, for site visits.
  • Quality control reviews of design/construction documents.
  • Provide support to project team and others as required.
  • Coordination of project details with other disciplines on team.
  • Construction cost estimating.

In addition to the general attributes listed above that we seek in all of our new hires, the attributes that Design Alaska seeks in applicants for this position include:

  • 5-year bachelor of architecture or master of architecture degree from an NAAB accredited institution.
  • Able to pursue licensure in state of Alaska.
  • Proficiency in Revit.
  • Interested in an Alaskan adventure.
