Design Alaska Employee Benefits Package
Design Alaska is proud of the benefits package we offer our employees. The package includes:
- Annual leave accrued at a starting rate of fifteen days per year. The accrual rate increases by 0.5 days per year on each anniversary date of an employee’s date of hire. There is no upper limit.
- Nine paid holidays each year as follows: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas, and two floating holidays which vary from year to year.
- Design Alaska offers medical, life, and short and long term disability insurance plans. We pay 100% of the employee’s life insurance premium, 100% of their short and long-term disability insurance premium, and 65% of the employee’s, and their dependents’, medical insurance premium. Audio/visual health care is covered under the medical insurance plan. Dental insurance is available for the employee and their dependents with 100% of the premium paid by the employee. Design Alaska offers a Health Savings Account option for those employees enrolled in our medical insurance program which allows employees to pay for their current and future health insurance costs with pre-tax dollars.
- Design Alaska also offers a Flexible Spending Account option that allows employees to pay their health insurance premiums and their dependent care expenses with pre-tax dollars.
- Design Alaska offers a 401(k) Profit Sharing Plan. Under this plan Design Alaska contributes 5% of each employee’s bi-weekly wages to their retirement account. Our 401(k) plan also allows employees to contribute a portion of their compensation to their retirement account. If an employee makes a contribution, Design Alaska makes a matching contribution in an amount equal to the employee’s contribution, up to a maximum of 7.5% of their compensation. Thus Design Alaska contributes between 5% and 12.5%, depending on the amount of the employee’s voluntary contribution, of an employee’s bi-weekly wages to their 401(k) account. All contributions are made on a tax-deferred basis.
- Design Alaska pays for a registered professional employee’s State of Alaska professional registration fees and membership dues for their participation in one professional organization.
- Design Alaska reimburses employees expenses incurred in pursuit of enhancing their professional skills or in pursuit of personal growth through university level education.
- The Fairbanks Athletic Club waives the initiation fee for Design Alaska employees. The employees are responsible only for their monthly dues through payroll deduction.
