The Mechanical Engineering Department at Design Alaska is our largest department and is led by Chris Miller, PE, FPE, LEED-AP, CxA. Chris is supported by four professional mechanical engineers and eight engineers in training. In 2009, the department gained three Certified Commissioning Agents (CxA) that extended its capability for project closeout and LEED support. The department has considerable design experience for new construction and renovation of commercial, institutional, military, recreational, light industrial, and residential facilities. This experience extends to all phases of mechanical systems design including energy usage analysis, lifecycle estimating, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing, piping, fire protection, and controls. At Design Alaska, the Mechanical Engineering Department also is responsible for all exterior water, sewer, and steam and condensate utilities work as well as underground fuel tanks and associated piping.
