Design Alaska regularly performs volumes surveys for our clients in the execution of our projects. The volume calculations are used for pay quantities, documentation for amount of contaminated material removed, and for certification of material put in place. The projects begin with topographic surveys of the original ground at the project site. As material is placed or removed, follow-up surveys are performed to document the activities. Exhibits are drafted for each phase at one-foot contour intervals and include volume calculations and summary tables. Calculations are performed with Civil 3D using grid subtraction methods.
