Design Alaska provided full Architect and Engineer design services for the FTW 336B 276-Person Barracks project at Ft Wainwright, Alaska. This facility is a cornerstone project for the Aviation Task Force Phase 1 effort at the Army Post. This 100,000 SF, 276-person barracks provides separate 2-person suites and features a central core recreation area with numerous outdoor amenities including basketball and volleyball courts and covered barbecue/relaxing spots. The project is designed to achieve a LEED Silver certification through the US Green Building Council. Highly energy efficient systems and a healthy indoor environment are some of our prime LEED goals with this project.
The project was awarded as a design-build effort and began in April 2010. In order to meet the agressive project schedule, Design Alaska split the design into several distinct packages that were completed on a fast-track schedule. The project is currently on schedule and has an estimated completion date of December 2011.
The facility is being provided to the Ft Wainwright Department of Public Works under contract with the Alaska District of the US Army Corps of Engineers.
