Design Alaska is looking for an enthusiastic and charismatic Civil Engineer - PE to join our team. Design Alaska is a full-service Architecture, Engineering, and Surveying firm that provides commercial and institutional design services throughout Alaska. Civil Engineering duties typically include:

  • Develop quality Civil design solutions that meet the needs of the client and comply with applicable codes and design standards.
  • Work on multi-discipline design teams.
  • Participate in project design review meetings and coordinate with clients.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Interpretation of geotechnical data obtained from borings and pothole investigations and frozen soils.
  • Analysis of storm water, drinking water, wastewater, solid waste, and hazardous material impact on design.
  • Design of transportation networks and building sites to accommodate vehicles and people in arctic locations.
  • Construction cost estimating. Overseeing construction projects and progress inspections.
  • Potential site investigations including existing vegetation, soils, utilities, and road access.
  • Occasional in-state travel is required for site visits.

Design Alaska seeks these desirable attributes in Civil Engineer applicants:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in civil engineering from an ABET accredited university.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in designing and managing civil engineering projects.
  • Professional Civil Engineer License in Alaska or obtain reciprocity licensing within 1 year of employment.
  • Demonstrate a broad depth of knowledge in the practice of civil engineering.
  • Ability to train and mentor young engineers and EITs.
  • Autodesk AutoCAD and Civil 3D or similar software experience.
