Structural Engineering
The Structural Engineering Department, led by Patrick Brandon, SE, is a diverse mix of exam-credentialed professional/structural engineers and engineers in training. The group has extensive hands-on design and construction experience, providing unique insight on effective construction techniques that ensure successful and economical structural designs. Coupled with this practical experience, the team uses industry-leading analysis techniques and structural modeling software to tackle even the most demanding structural engineering projects.
The structural team is well versed in design for Alaska’s unique climate demands, whether it is designing structures atop degrading permafrost in Bethel, roof designs for heavy snow loading in Valdez, detailing for high seismic demands in Anchorage and the Interior, or detailing thermally broken connections at building envelope penetrations, the structural team has the experience and technical expertise required. The department’s portfolio consists of commercial, institutional, military, light industrial, recreational and residential facilities throughout Alaska and beyond, both in new building design and structural renovations of existing buildings.
