Design Alaska is looking for a Landscape Architect student who enjoys challenges and new experiences, who wants the opportunity to grow personally and professionally along with our community, and is eager to explore what the great state of Alaska has to offer. We are a community and family-oriented firm providing Architectural, Engineering, Planning and Surveying services throughout the state of Alaska. Design Alaska is committed to the personal and professional growth of its employees through a variety of projects and continuing education opportunities. At Design Alaska you will work alongside Architects, Mechanical, Structural, Electrical, Civil Engineers and Surveyors. Design Alaska provides both new and renovated building designs for educational, government, military, institutional, light industrial, recreational, and community outreach programs throughout the state. Alaska is a unique state with four major climate zones ranging from the permafrost tundra of the Arctic zone, to the wet and snowy Maritime coastal zone, to the drastic temperature range of the interior zone in which our office is located. Each zone provides its own set of design challenges to the Landscape Architect who provides innovative and functional designs to meet the needs and budgets of our clients.

Landscape Architect Intern duties typically include:

  • Design work from concept design through construction documents.
  • Development of various landscape graphics, sketches and renderings.
  • Construction job site inspections and observation.
  • Occasional in-state travel, including remote Alaskan locations, for site visits.
  • Provide support to project team and others as required.
  • Coordination of project details with other disciplines on team.
  • Construction cost estimating.

  • Works effectively in team environments.
  • Driven, focused, and manages time well.
  • Good communication and leadership skills.
  • Construction industry related work experience.
  • Completed minimum 3rd year of a 5-year Bachelor of Landscape Architecture or Masters of Landscape Architecture degree from an LAAB accredited institution.
  • Proficiency in multiple graphic rendering software.
  • Interested in an Alaskan adventure.

This position provides a competitive wage and some travel and expense reimbursement.
